The ideal primer for steel in splash zones and tidal areas, this 2 pack epoxy primer can be fully immersed within an hour of application, as it continues to cure under water. It will even cure at temperatures as low as 0C. Marathon 500 is surface tolerant, offers excellent abrasion resistance, & can be applied at high film thicknesses (up to 500 microns per coat). It offers good solvent & chemical resistance, & good flexibility. It can be used alone as it has a glossy finish & good colour retention (for an epoxy) or it can be used in combination with a topcoat. It is also available in a wide variety of colours. Please note that exposure to water soon after application may affect the coating surface and give a whitish appearance, especially on dark and strong colours. This will not however affect the protective properties. Typical paint system: 1 x 500 micron coat or 2 x 250 micron coats (dry film thicknesses).
Suitable for:
Jackets, Jetties, Pilings, Offshore Wind, Condesate Boxes, Cassons, Helidecks or any harsh environment.
Available in 5 litre (nom) size.
