SML SHIELD - Premium Yacht Primers

The SHIELD range are commercial primers formulated for easy application by leisure users who do not have access to spray equipment and are available in smaller 2.5 litre tins.
For all metal - Use ST Epoxy Primer which bonds well to bare metal but is tolerant of less than perfect preparation, then High Build Epoxy to increase the thickness of the protective layer. Use Quick-Dry Spot Primer, in a handy 500ml, tin to prime small areas of bare metal before applying a single-pack topcoat.
For bare GRP/Fibreglass/gelcoat - Apply High Build Epoxy to repair and build up the GRP/gelcoat layer, easily sanded to provide a smooth finish ready for your topcoat.
For previously painted surfaces - Use Undercoat above the waterline and Underwater Primer below to form a good base for your topcoat or antifouling.

We can't all be experts at everything so sometimes we need a little help. Here at SML Marine Paints we do know paint and supply some of the best paint products in the World. However, having listened to our leisure customers, sometimes getting the best result is not just about the paint but the equipment used to apply it and the experience of the painter. 

A great many of the paints we supply are intended for professional use and often expensive, spraying equipment is necessary to get the very best out of the product. They also come in large 5 litre tins which is sometimes more than the average leisure user will need. It was with this in mind that we decided to launch own range of primers and topcoats pulling together all we know about paints and our leisure users.

All the SHIELD and LUSTRE products are professional quality. They come in smaller, more convienient sizes. They have been formulated for application by brush and roller and the topcoats especially have excellent wet edge properties.
